cycling to lake sermo

cycling to lake sermo

.

On Sunday we took a route heading west to lake sermo. Avoiding the big roads as much as possible we passed the rice fiels, villages, the railroad bridge and some very steep short climbs.

.

.

After riding on mostly good beautiful asphalt roads and in between some rocky, sandy and dry off road trails we finally ended at the lake Sermo.

.

.

Finally at the lake we decided to ride around a little looking for a place to eat. Unfortunatly, after passing the first few local restaurants we found out that we had to drive all around the lake to found another small ‘warung’ were we could eat something.

The drive around the lake is stunningly beautiful and peacefull (probably because there are no ‘warungs’ or anything else except a small local graveyeard, see pict). It was much longer than it looked entering the lakes dam and finally we measured it at 17,8km. Mostly flat but with a very steep climb at the end.

it took me 132km to get home again, but starting from the center of Yogyakarta its about 100km. A beautiful ride, good for the endurance practise and a nice day to spend with friends.
