Volcano Merbabu Summit

Volcano Merbabu Summit

.

When climbing the Volcano MERBABU you will encounter an amazing beautifull display of sceneries. But to get to this point you will first have to reach your maximum endurance levels, dig in to your highest motivation levels and accept the constant pain in your muscles until the ‘bitter’ end.

.

But the ‘bitter’ end turns out to be ‘SWEET’, STUNNING & UNFORGETTABLE!

.

To get to this point we will first pick you up in Yogyakarta. We will then drive you to the starting point where the climb begins. There are several resting ‘posts’ and and it ends with a few extra tops before reaching the real summit. These last few ‘tops’ up & down are a treat for the real endurance lover, but most likely a big mental step for those that are already tired & cold. But dont worry, it will take much less time then you expect and when reaching this highest plateau and seeing the sun come up ALL PAIN, SWEAT & MENTAL ENDURANCE WILL BE FORGOTTEN! With her 3200m summit you will litteraly look down at her sister the Merapi that stands out with jst a 100m less high summit. The plateau will give you a 360 degree view and space enough to walk around and set your camera’s ready for PICTURE TIME!

.

It can be cold at night before reaching the final summit! Pack your backpack with some warm clothes and enough water and snacks and be sure you are wearing proper shoes or sneakers. Once i experienced such a cold wind at night that it gave frost when the sun came up fast and strong. Although normal in other parts of the world, seeing frost was a first for me after living 15 years in Indonesia and such a beautifull sight that it will be displayed in my memory forever.

The cold wind wil also stay in my memory! Pls be aware that the faster climbers sometimes have to wait and give resting time to the slower climbers, ‘Sharing is Caring!’ Those ‘standing still’ moments can get really cold without protection from trees or bushes, above 2500m, already sweaty and in the middle of the night with wind blowing always too much and always too cold at such a moment!

.

After the descent and a well deserved rest we will bring you back to Yogyakarta where your realisation of what you just achieved will slowly start to kick in. Looking back at your amazing pictures with views that will stay with you for the rest of your life will make this climb for sure THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR TRAVEL!
